Summering & The Festival of Quilts

All Quiet on the PreQuilt Dev Front
I usually like to kick off our monthly newsletter by sharing a new feature or an upgrade with you. But with the boys being home for summer break and exhibiting at The Festival of Quilts, it's been pretty quiet here on the PreQuilt development front.
I can say that Gar and I had a wonderful time traveling to Birmingham, UK for The Festival of Quilts. It was our first time ever going to this national show and I really enjoyed the massive number of quilts on display and getting to look at all the British and European exhibitor booths.
But my most favorite part was meeting some of our British and European customers and getting to see their quilts hanging in the show! (Like Yin Yang (above) designed by Rachel Snee, a PreQuilt subscriber).
Thank you to everyone who stopped by our little PreQuilt booth! It was so lovely getting to meet you in person!

Laura's Teaching Bojagi! // 2025-26
You might have read my article, Bojagi: Embracing a Sense of Self, in the 2025 QuiltCon Magazine or this summer's Quilting Arts Magazine. In the article, I was able to share my story of being a Korean-adoptee and how bojagi helped me to feel a bit more tethered to my heritage.
Springboarding off of this, I'm so happy to share that I've been invited to teach 2 Bojagi workshops in the upcoming months - one in Toronto and another on a Korea to Japan cruise with my friend, Karen Brown of Just Get It Done Quilts!
I have also been interviewed by my local-ish quilt shop, The Workroom, for their The Person Behind series. It was wonderful to get to reflect on my quilts and how Korean bojagi has inspired my work.
Here's the information, I'd love to take this adventure with you!
November 08, 2025 // Contemporary Textile Studio Co-Op // Toronto, Canada
May 26-June 07, 2026 // The Best of Japan Cruise // Seoul, Korea to Tokyo, Japan
QuiltCon 2026 Sponsors // February 19-22, 2026
We're proud to be sponsoring my favorite quilt show on earth, QuiltCon, for the fourth year in a row. We have decided not to vend this year (mostly because our boys need to stay in school), but I'll be there walking around and doing a demo on the MQG stage. Hope to see you there!

A Note from Laura
I would like to thank the universe for the timing of Do Ho Suh's current exhibition, Walk the House, at the Tate Modern in London. I saw a reel of his show on Instagram (while doom scrolling, as one does) and I cannot tell you how ecstatic I was to learn that I would be able to see it while in the UK for The Festival of Quilts.
I loved the scale of his pieces and all the organza, of course. But what is also just known as I walked the show, is that these pieces all took time. Lots of it. And for the impatient maker in me, it was a great reminder to slow down and make something meaningful, even if it will take a long, long time.
So, if you're lucky enough to be in London sometime before the end of October, maybe check out Do Ho Suh's show. And if you're not, then maybe start something meaningful without constraints.
