Fabric Calculator Feature

We're so excited to announce that we now have our newest feature, Fabric Calculations, live and available to all PreQuilt subscribers!

Here's a summary of the great quilt math you'll get for the quilts that you design in PreQuilt:

  • Yardage needed

  • Cutting diagrams

  • Block blowouts

  • Alternative construction methods

  • Backing fabric

  • Binding fabric

There are also lots of customizable variables as well. You can change the WOF for your fabrics, choose your preferred construction method, and rotate cut pieces in the fabric cutting diagrams.

We can't wait for you all to enjoy taking your creativity to the next step - being able to make the awesome quilts you design in PreQuilt.

And of course, we have a very robust Help Guide section on not only the Fabric Calculator, but also our recommendations on how to build out Block Units so that the fabric calculator will automatically recognize them.

Note: Fabric calculations will not be available for designer coloring pages. Buy the pattern for all your making needs.

2025 Kona Color of the Year

It's that time of year again, when we all get a fresh start. And we're always excited to see what the Kona Color of the Year will be. This year it's Nocturne!

We have it preloaded in PreQuilt for all your design needs. Enjoy!

A Note from Laura

Last week there was a flourish of activity on Instagram with the announcements of all the quilts that are both going to hang at QuiltCon and those that were rejected. I'm not a huge fan of the #quiltconreject nomenclature, but I guess it does get the job done.

I submitted one quilt this year and it was not accepted. And while I'm disappointed - I mean, my gosh, of course I am, I've got dreams - I am also extremely proud of what I was able to accomplish (I love this quilt) and I cannot wait to see all of the wonderful quilts that will be there.

All the QuiltCon acceptance and rejection posts - and comments - got me thinking about dreams and goals. And what I have concluded is that I am so grateful that QuiltCon exists. It's something to look forward to; it's a vessel for inspiration; and it's a meeting spot where we can geek out with like minded makers that we often only get to see at QuiltCon.

And that's the spirit of QuiltCon that I love and value. (I feel like there's a real opportunity here for a Quiltmas Carol or something with the quilts of the past, present, and future teaching us some lesson....).

To everyone who was accepted, congratulations, I cannot wait to see your quilt! And to those who weren't, I hope I get to see your wonderful quilt on Instagram, because these one of a kind makes are so worth sharing anywhere you can.

Happy holidays and we'll catch you again in the New Year!
